A Japanese student named Issei Sagawa had committed a crime beyond comprehension. He had murdered his Dutch classmate, RenéeHartevelt, then mutilated, cannibalized, and performed necrophilia on her remains. The man, who was eventually identified as 32-year-old Issei Sagawa, was arrested without further incident. During questioning he confessed to killing the woman, who he identified as 25-year-old RenéeHartevelt. In 1981, Japanese murderer Issei Sagawa, the “Kobe Cannibal,” killed his friend RenéeHartevelt and ate her remains, yet he's free to walk the streets to this day. Before pulling the trigger on Hartevelt, Sagawa would bring a prostitute to his Paris home almost every night trying to shoot them to satiate his cannibalistic urges. “But for some reason, my fingers froze up and I couldn't pull the trigger,” he told Vice in a chilling 2009 interview.
