So much so that they received some backlash for their comments. The parents of an Ohio teenager killed when MackenzieShirilla deliberately plowed her car into a building at 100 mph in an effort to kill her boyfriend say she is a “bully” who “murdered” their son. Shirillahas appealed the decision to reject her petition to the Ohio Supreme Court, according to The Columbus Dispatch. She will next be up for parole in October of 2037. Shirilla's parentshavepublicly maintained their daughter's innocence, with their legal team arguing that a neurologist's review of her post-crash medical data is consistent with a loss of consciousness prior to impact. MackenzieShirilla and her family have consistently maintained that the crash was a tragic accident. Shirilla's family claims she experienced a sudden medical event, possibly related to her Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), that caused her to lose consciousness. Shirilla was wedged under the dashboard and had to be extracted from the car with a tool regularly called the jaws of life. A helicopter then rushed her to the hospital.
